So You Want to Go Bungy Jumping?

Bungy jumping is a thrill sport that involves jumping from a tall structure while connected to a large elastic cord, called a bungee or bungy. The tall structure is usually a fixed object, such as a building, bridge or crane, but it’s also possible to jump from a movable object, such as a hot-air-balloon or helicopter.

When the person jumps, the cord stretches to absorb the energy of the fall, then the jumper flies upwards again as the cord snaps back. The jumper oscillates up and down until all the energy is used up. The allure and thrill of bungy jumping is two-fold, as far as the initial free-fall once the jumper leaps and then the pause and snap back once the bungee cord works its magic.

Bungee jumpers get their kicks at locations around the world, as bungy jumping has grown in recent years to the point that its possible to go bungee jumping in many, many countries around the world.
